Merge Dragon is a puzzle adventure game where you’re tasked with healing (unlocking) the vale of Dragonia which was destroyed by the evil Zomblins. To do this, you merge anything and everything the magical land in your camp with the help of your dragons.

This mobile game has three main aspects: healing your camp, puzzle quests and special event quests.

Healing your camp

To heal the land destroyed by the Zomblins, you will need the help of the flowers. Have your dragons harvest them to collect life orbs which can be used to unlock dead land.

The dragons are vital to healing your camp. The more dragons you have in your camp, and the more you merge them, the easier it is to unlock everything. To increase the number and level of dragons in your camp, you’ll need to use the in-game currency (magic coins) to purchase dragon eggs (the main way of getting dragon eggs). Merge three or more of the same eggs to create a level 1 dragon, then merge those dragons to level them up.

Puzzle quests

Puzzle quests allow you to complete mini-puzzles to earn rewards for you camp. You get a selection of rewards to choose from; around two to three are free while the rest require spending gems. These rewards could be plant seeds, magic coins and even life flowers.

So far, there are over 200 puzzle quests that can be played more than once for more rewards.

Special event quests

These quests are for a limited time only – typically 72 hours long from Friday evening to Monday evening (GMT standard time) – and occur around once every fortnight. Depending on the time of year, these special event quests may also be themed. For instance, you can expect to see Christmas-themed events in December. These quests make for a pleasant change of pace from harvesting and merging in your camp and completing the puzzle quests. The special event quests allow you to earn rewards for your camp such as Dragon Trees and rare dragon eggs not easily earned in the main puzzle quests.

Are there any downsides to Merge Dragons?

Getting the full experience and special eggs depends on whether you’re willing to make in-app purchases. Many of the dragon eggs, chests and buildings (e.g. dragon homes and coin vaults) can be bought using the in-app currency of magic coins and bricks. However, the more special items and rarer eggs require gems. Those gems can be earned in puzzles but that’s a rare occurrence. You would have to purchase gems from the shop which really is not worth the price. Prices can reach up to £99.99!

On another note, it does take a little while to get your head around it. It took me a while to realise I could sell my unwanted locked chests to clear up space in my camp. It also took me a while to truly realise how beneficial it could be to merge items to its highest level before collecting them. But most of all, the screen can get quite busy with dragons floating around, harvesting from life flowers and trees constantly. Eventually, you’ll adapt to it.

Gram Games created an amusing and addictive mobile game in which players will get hours of fun merging a variety of artefacts and items to evolve them into even more brilliant items and heal the destroyed land. With the added fun of standard and special event puzzles, there’s no reason not to return to the game.
